So how do we keep a healthy, positive view of life when we feel we cannot change the world or the way our life is going?

This is in addition to each of our own daily life challenges. So how do we keep a healthy, positive view of life when we feel we cannot change the world or the way our life is going?

We start by looking at the power of our attitude toward our circumstances. Let’s take the circumstance mentioned of the global pandemic. If we take a negative attitude that we cannot make a difference in this world, we will not act to make a difference. Our negative thoughts will lead to no action.

But if we decide that we will take an attitude that we can make a difference, we will start mapping out ways to actually take some action.

So what would this action be? Instead of saying we can doing nothing to change the circumstance of a pandemic in the world, break the global issue into a local action.

What can I do in my own local area to help? Could I help by giving blood, making calls to lonely seniors in nursing homes, making masks for others, or adopting a shelter animal? Write down your skills and identify which ones you would most like to use to help local agencies during this time. Your helping actions for others will lead to a positive sense of yourself.

Likewise if your attitude is that you cannot change the way your personal life is going, list your current goals for career and relationships. Identify what obstacles are blocking your goals. What is getting in the way of you achieving your dreams for career or relationships?
